You Were Made for Life with God
God made you. You are not an accident, nor do you belong finally to yourself. He made human beings in His image and gave us a place in His world under His good rule.
Your life is His gift. But He made you for more than survival, achievement, or momentary happiness. True life is fellowship with God: knowing Him, receiving His love, living under His wise authority, and becoming what He created you to be.
John 17:3
We Have Turned from God
The Bible calls our turning from God sin. Sin includes the things we do that God forbids, but it goes deeper. Sin is self-rule: the claim that we have the right to decide what is good, direct our own lives, and use God’s gifts without yielding to God Himself.
We must see this not only in the world around us, but in ourselves. We have all chosen our own way. Sin separates us from the God who is the source of life, leaves us guilty before Him, and moves us toward death. Good deeds cannot erase guilt already incurred. We need more than advice. We need rescue.
