Forgiveness

Forgiveness is the gracious release of the guilt and debt of sin, made possible through the atoning work of Jesus Christ.

God does not forgive by ignoring sin but by dealing with it fully through the death and resurrection of His Son. Those who trust in Christ are forgiven, reconciled to God, and freed from condemnation. Having received such mercy, believers are called to forgive others, releasing personal offenses rather than seeking revenge, and pursuing reconciliation wherever repentance makes it possible. Forgiveness does not deny that sin is real; it declares that its debt has been answered through the grace of God.

See in Scripture: Psalm 103:10–12; Matthew 6:14–15; Matthew 18:21–35; Ephesians 1:7; Ephesians 4:32; Colossians 3:13; 1 John 1:9
