Witness

Witness is the truthful testimony of God's people to the person and work of Jesus Christ, proclaimed by both word and life.

A witness declares what he knows to be true. The apostles were eyewitnesses of Christ's life, death, and resurrection, and the church continues their testimony by proclaiming the gospel revealed in Scripture. This witness is carried not only through faithful preaching but also through holy living, love for one another, and steadfast obedience to Christ. The church does not bear witness to itself but to its risen Lord, calling all people to repentance and faith in Him.

See in Scripture: Matthew 5:14–16; Acts 1:8; Acts 4:19–20; John 15:26–27; 1 Peter 2:12; 1 Peter 3:15
