Victory is Christ’s decisive triumph over sin, death, Satan, condemnation, and every hostile power through His obedient death and bodily resurrection.
The cross that looked like defeat was the defeat of the powers. There Christ spoiled principalities and powers, blotted out the handwriting that was against us, and disarmed the one who had the power of death. Rising, He broke death’s dominion as the head of a new humanity.
This victory is already won and not yet fully displayed. Its final manifestation waits for the day when the last enemy, death, is destroyed and every enemy is put beneath His feet. Those united to Him already share His triumph, and will reign with Him when His victory is made complete.
