Surrender is giving oneself to Jesus Christ and giving up the right to rule oneself — the yielding side of saving faith.
To be saved is not merely to agree that the gospel is true, but to hand over the throne: to lay down the claim to rule one’s own life and receive Christ as Lord. This is not a meritorious work that earns salvation; it is faith’s true shape, the creature returning to its rightful allegiance.
Surrender is costly, and it is freeing. The yoke of Christ is easy, and His service is the liberty that autonomy could never give.
