Embassy is a biblical picture of the local church as Christ's authorized representative, displaying the life and authority of His kingdom in the midst of the world.
An embassy represents one nation while residing within another. Likewise, the church lives in the kingdoms of this world while belonging to the Kingdom of God. As Christ's embassy, the church proclaims His gospel, recognizes the citizens of His kingdom through baptism and the Lord's Supper, teaches His commands, and lives under His authority rather than the values of the surrounding culture. The church does not establish Christ's kingdom by political power but faithfully represents the King until He returns.
