Doctrine

Doctrine is the body of truth taught by Scripture concerning God, His works, and His will for His people.

Doctrine is not human speculation about God but the faithful understanding and teaching of His written Word. Sound doctrine grows out of careful study of Scripture, is measured by Scripture, and leads God's people to worship, obedience, and spiritual maturity. Because Scripture is the final authority for faith and practice, every doctrine must be tested by it. The church is called not only to preserve sound doctrine but also to teach it faithfully from one generation to the next.

See in Scripture: Matthew 28:19–20; Acts 2:42; 1 Timothy 4:16; 2 Timothy 3:16–17; Titus 1:9; Titus 2:1
