Temple

Temple is the dwelling place of God among His people, where His presence is revealed and He is worshiped according to His purpose.

Throughout Scripture, the temple is the visible expression of God's desire to dwell with His people. The tabernacle and later the temple in Jerusalem pointed forward to a greater reality fulfilled in Jesus Christ, the true meeting place between God and man. Through union with Christ, believers are now being built together into a spiritual temple, a dwelling place of God through the Holy Spirit. The church is therefore not merely a gathering of individuals but God's holy temple, displaying His presence and glory until the day when He will dwell openly with His redeemed in the new creation.

See in Scripture: Exodus 25:8; 1 Kings 8:10–13; John 2:19–21; 1 Corinthians 3:16–17; Ephesians 2:19–22; 1 Peter 2:5; Revelation 21:3, 22
