The novel’s internal ages are anchored in Jehoram’s eight-year reign, Ahaziah’s accession at twenty-two in 2 Kings 8:26, and Joash’s coronation at seven.

About the dates: Ancient accession-year systems and inclusive counting do not behave exactly like modern birthday arithmetic. The sequence preserves the biblical regnal anchors while keeping the characters’ ages internally consistent.
